I have completed several concentration pieces, but need to focus on getting some breadth works in. At the Local 14 show there was a woman named Anthony who threw wheel thrown animal forms. The shapes were very abstract and eye catching. I have never been very experienced on the wheel but this work should be fun because I will be throwing different shapes, to widen my throwing skills.

Wheel thrown animal forms sounds really cool. You should definitely make one for a breadth piece.
ReplyDeleteI think you should try a couple of different forms to get started. But I think that sounds like a really cool idea. What kinds of animals? Horses?
ReplyDeleteI really like the horse you made, so the idea of maybe putting an animal on a pot to put in ur concentration sounds like a really cool idea...i can't wait to see how your breadth piece turns out
ReplyDeleteI wish you could have seen Nils Lou's driftwood horse sculpture. It has thrown pots as the muscles and the wood kind-of held all of the pots in place.
ReplyDeleteAlso, check out Deborah Butterfield's horses! You could make something like that, but on a smaller scale.
i like this allot iv wanted to incourporate 2d into 3d and this is a grate way to do it
