Progress on the wheel

I feel much more comfortable when throwing on the wheel now. Although I have two problems...

1. It is hard for me to throw larger pieces. I know that this will change over more time I spend throwing on the wheel so it's not too concerning.

2. When raising, my shape remains fairly steady, but I have a hard time at the bottom of the pot. The dish of the base is very thick and by the time I have completed the pot it is too late for me to make the bottom form thin and it's too thick to simple trim off.
I really like the wheel thrown forms above so will work on creating interesting textures and straigh bottoms with curved tops.

What to do...

I would really like to focus throwing on the wheel now that our portfolios are complete. While I was working on my wheel thrown horse I felt a significant improvement in my throwing skills. Although I do not like clay and do not like the mess, I will most likely be throwin' some dank pots!

AP Showcase

Overall the AP Showcase was a success. It's very cool that we get to show off all of our hard work we have done for the whole year. The art work also looks different from sitting in our cabinets. Haha

CRUNCH TIME!!

The AP Showcase is on April 29th! Aaaaah I have to get that date covered for work and make sure all my pieces are fixed for the big day. I WILL have everything done in time. For my table, I will most likely try to create a garden-like display as if I planted very funky plants.

New Plant Sculpture

Many of my sculptures have been the same idea of plants with straight stems and a flower at the top. I need to try something new while having the similar aspects of my previous concentration pieces. Here is an image that has very interesting, sharp textures.

Stiiiiiilll working on the wheel thrown horse. I need to figure out what my last few concentration pieces are going to be. There's a possibility I'll throw in some new materials like sticks or moss. What do you think?

Ivy

I am currently working on another concentration piece that is an ivy like plant that has purple flowers on it. It's been a struggle for me to preserve the color in the plants with the adhesive seel, so it's a possibility that I will be using fake flowers. I really don't like the idea of this because I enjoy working with an element like wire that is someone easy to form into it's own shape and the contrast of organic materials inwhich you can only do so much. So my problem is either using fake flowers and giving up the feeling of working with nature, or continuing to work with live flowers and leaves. If I do live plants then the piece will only last in time for the picture.
